I specialize in boxes, bowls, platters, urns, vases, kitchen utensils, and other fine woodworked items. I enjoy segmented woodturning as it is a challenge to cut all the pieces and then create something beautiful from the 100s of pieces. Segmented woodturning is challenging to design as well as make. I have to calculate the sizes and amounts of wood, cut each piece to size, glue pieces after lightly sanding into rings, sand the rings flat so they can be glued and stacked, and then finally turned to shape. Sanding is always done before finishing. It takes me on average about 8-15 hours to complete a segmented item.
