I hand cut silhouettes of children, adults, and pets. This is a vintage method of portraiture and dates back to the 17th to mid 19th centuries. I use the "free-hand" method of cutting, which involves cutting a small profile of the subject without prior drawing. I use small scissors and special silhouette paper which is black on one side and white on the other. The process is so quick that the subject does not have to sit for very long (I do wiggly children!) The completed silhouette is placed on an antique white mat ready for framing. I also have mats and frames available for purchase to preserve the paper portrait. This is a lost art which I have been creating for over 20 years, mostly for family. I am excited to share this ancient method of portraiture with today's parents, grandparents, and caregivers.
