Emmanuel Okechukwu ceramicsBooth Number: BOX540 Address: Contact: okechukwuemmanuel66@gmail.com My work is created using earthenware clay through a combination of wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques. I create both functional pottery and sculptural forms, often starting on the potter’s wheel before altering and assembling the pieces by hand. I use an extruder to create coils and textured elements inspired by traditional African hairstyles. For surface decoration, I apply a white majolica glaze and paint bright patterns using underglazes, drawing inspiration from Ankara fabrics and Nigerian aesthetics. My process includes throwing, assembling, bisque firing, glazing, surface painting, and glaze firing. Through these techniques, I create works that combine traditional Nigerian influences with contemporary ceramic practice. |
